Anthony Ekundayo Lennon portraitAn actor for 30 years, Anthony Ekundayo Lennon was last seen on stage as the leading man in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Yellowman by Dael Orlandersmith (Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse UK tour). Previous theatre includes: Dirty Reality (Black Mime Theatre), The Prayer, 48 – 98, Brother to Brother, Rum Shop Opera and Anansi Steals the Wind (Talawa Theatre), The Remnant and Ragamuffin (Double Edge Theatre), Devil Going to Dance (Staunch Poets & Players), Tewodros and Lazarus & His Beloved (Black Theatre Forum), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Savoy) and Scars, produced and directed by Lennie James.

Film and television include: Messiah – The Promise, The Bill, Emmerdale – In the City, Grange Hill, Dinotopia, Press Gang and South of the Border. Anthony will soon be starring opposite Fraser Ayres as his shadowy brother Marcus in television comedy-drama series Maynard’s.

As a director he has worked for Camden People’s Theatre, Contact Theatre (Manchester), Creative Riddim’s Community Theatre (Bristol) and the Birmingham Arts Festival. He has assistant directed for Creative Origins/UK Arts International (Ragamuffin) and his most recent AD role was to Chuck Mike in summer 2009 for Collective Artistes’ The African Company Presents Richard III by Carlyle Brown.

Anthony works with schools, colleges, public sector bodies and other organisations to deliver cultural identity/emotional literacy sessions using drama, spoken word and transformational speaking as learning tools. He is co-lead drama practitioner at the Lyric, Hammersmith (Youth Inclusion Department) and artist-in-residence at educational consultancy Hogarth Blake. He is writing his first feature film, Stillpoint.
